6 Tips On What To Wear For A Outdoor Summer Photoshoot

August 31, 2018

Sigh, it is that time of the year when Houston is either pouring cats and dogs or a scorching 100+ degrees Fahrenheit! Real talk, as a Houston senior photographer I can tell you that neither of those options are #fetch for your senior photos. I mean, duh-you plan on looking back on these photos ten years from now and think to yourself, “Wow, I look good,” and NOT, “I look like I am dripping in sweat and want to cry!” Right?!

The SAP Senior Experience

If you book a session with me, you will receive a PDF of tips and tricks to having the best senior session. The document is full of suggestions based on my experience as a senior photographer for nine years. Including advice on what to wear, what to bring, how to get ready the day of, and so much more! It’s important to plan your outfit in accordance to the weather because your outfit can make or break your photos, so I strongly advise my seniors to put some thought into it and if they ever need help, I am here to help out!
All my seniors love it which is why I decided to share some tips, specifically on what to wear on those crazy hot-and-humid-like-a-sauna Houston days. So here we go! Tips from a Houston senior photographer:
  1. Find a trend that speaks to your personality, compliments your body type, & makes you feel comfortable and confident. If you have to be out in the Houston heat, then it is even more so crucial to wear an outfit that works under those circumstances without compromising your confidence.
  2. Avoid clothing fabrics that could stain if you sweat (ie: silk, rayon, polyester, polyester blend, nylon).
  3. Dark and white colored fabrics are really good at hiding moisture.
  4. Avoid tight long sleeves if possible, so your body can breathe. A lot of times, having that fabric right against your sticky skin can irritate it and before you know it, you have a gnarly rash.
  5. Cotton is your best friend on a hot & sunny day! It will keep you cool.
  6. If you’re taking your senior pictures for your school’s yearbook, please make sure to follow the guidelines. In the past, certain schools did not allow senior pictures with baseball caps, sunglasses, or clothes with cut-outs in their yearbook. Each school is different, so be sure to ask your yearbook teacher!
